The voting is still going on at the Veterans Memorial Center where more than 200 Democrats gathered for their Super Tuesday Caucus.

From this reporter’s experience of past caucuses, this was perhaps the nosiest and best attended.

American Samoa Democratic Party Chairman Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde introduced each of the three candidates whose names were on the ballot for local Democrats to choose from.

Hillary Clincton, Bernie Sandars and Rocky de la Fuenta all spoke via internet to the assembled Democrats, the most prominent of which was national committeeman Senator Galeai Tuufuli.

Governor Lolo Moliga who returned home last night was expected but was unable to make it.

sp Sanders on screenIn the crowd were government employees, military personnel, clergy, business owners and youth.

Supporters held posters or wore pins and stickers promoting their candidates. Fuenta even had youth supporters wearing campaign T-shirts.

Supporters of the California businessman were bused to the Veterans Memorial Center paid for by the campaign which has two reps from headquarters visiting the territory.

sp FuentasHe was the only candidate who paid for political advertising that ran on 93 KHJ Radio today.

Each presidential hopeful spoke for about five minutes.

Former First Lady, Secretary of State and Senator Hillary Clinton promised to deal with hurdles that stand in the way of progress for American Samoa.

Bernie Sanders advocated for equality for women and gays.

And promised to make education accessible and free for everyone.

Sanders said the Democratic vote is not just about picking a candidate but it’s for real change in the way the nation is led.
