Nu’uuli House Representative Manumaua Wayne Wilson said he was stuck in traffic because of the fire and when he arrived at the scene the whole building was burned.

He said an oriental man who operates the store in the building was unable to give him any information of how the fire started.

Flames and black smoke could be seen from a distance.

The building is owned by former House Representive Steve Leasiolagi and is leased to Oriental business people.

Police said just the operators were inside the building when the fire started but they were all able to get out safely.

None of the contents of the fully stocked store could be saved.

There was concern that the blaze may spread to another building just a few yards away and fortunately firefighters were able to put out the flames and stop the fire from spreading.

KHJ News attempts to obtain comment from the Commissioner of Public Safety and the DPS Fire Chief about the fire were not successful.
