Campaigners Say Fuentas Knows Territory’s Needs

American Samoa is getting attention in the national media once again as the countdown to Super Tuesday begins and presidential candidates try to win support from the local Democrats.

Without any activity to speak of in local elections…not a single candidate has publicly announced for the gubernatorial, congressional and House of Representaives races…the weekend rallies for Democratic presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have given life to a sleepy election year.

sandersAnd the hype heightens tomorrow when local democrats caucus at the Veterans Center in Tafuna bgining at 8am.

Three candidates: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and California businessman Rocky de le Fuentas are scheduled to address the caucus either through a video conferencing or their representative, according to AS Democratic Party Chairman Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde.

For Hillary Clinton who has already received four votes from the superdelegates going to the National Democratic Convention, either her husband former President Bill Clinton or the presidential candidate herself will be calling in to address the caucus.

Hillary ClintonMrs. Clinton addressed the 2008 Super Tuesday Caucus at the Tradewinds Hotel but she did not win the nomination and succumbed to Barack Obama.

Less known candidate Fuentas has two campaigners who were dispatched here from his campaiogn headquarters to woo the Democratic vote.
