Summer may be a few months away but in bound and outbound travelers on the Honolulu Pago Pago route are already booking flights in anticipation of a busy travel season.

The biannual conference of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa which will be held at church headquarters at Kananafou around July August, is expected to draw large traveling groups from congregations in the US mainland, Alaska, and Hawaii as well as Autralia, and New Zealand.

In addition, family groups usually travel here from the mainland and Hawaii for reunions or for vacation while residents head off island for college graduations or to holiday with their children while schools are out,,

Extra flights have been added into Hawaiian Airline‘s reservations system.

A total of 14 extra flights have been scheduled May 25-August 10.

There’ll be 12 flights on Wednesdays and two Sunday flights, June 8 and July 31st.

This is in addition to then usual Monday and Friday flights.

Vice President of Hawaiian Air for Corporate Communications, Ann Botticelli, says the summer schedule reflects an additional four flights over last year’s service, and 8 more than the summer of 2014 when the airline was “woefully short of capacity.”

In other airline news Botticelli says Hawaiian has been partnering with the American Samoa Visitors Bureau on trade shows on the West Coast, which is something they began last year and agreed to continue doing.

Airline executives are planning to visit the territory during the summer and according to Botticelli, CEO Mark Dunkerley will be part making the trip to Pago Pago.

Airline officials from head office were in the territory in December.
