All’s set for the six hour radiothon on 93 KHJ and V103 Radio and telethon on KVZK-TV to help send American Samoa’s dancers and singers, handicraft makers and culinary artists who will show the rest of the Pacific that our culture and arts are alive and well.

A more than 70-member group will represent American Samoa in the Festival of Pacific Arts in Guam in May.

Director of the Amerika Samoa Arts Council, Uta Dr. Laloulu Tagoilelagi said at a final planning meeting for the fundraiser yesterday he hopes the whole territory will rally in support of this fundraising effort.

The Faasao Marist High School Cultural group is the selected dance group for the Guam festival and there’s a small group of artists and handicraft makers heading for Hagatna.

Uta is inviting government leaders, lawmakers, businesses, churches and the community to make donations even before Saturday.

You can call the Arts Council at 633-5613 if you would like to make an early donation.

On Saturday you can make a donation at the Fale Samoa in front of the Jean P Haydon Museum or any of these drop off/collection points: Youth Center in Pago Pago, Southseas Broadcasting Inc (93 KHJ & V103 Radio) Pago Plaza, Nu’uuli Aumaga Fale-CBT Nu’uuli, Cost U Less and Faasao Marist High School Lepuapua.

A facility for those making donations from off island is being set up and details are forthcoming.
