Online Petition Seeks CJ Kruse’s Nomination to Supreme Court

An online petition asks the Obama Administration to nominate American Samoa Chief Justice Michael Kruse to the Supreme Court of the United States.

The petition which was posted on whitehouse.gov the official website of the White House asls that the president nominate Kruse to fill Justice Anthony Scalaia seat on the Supreme Court.

Justice Scalia died last week.

The petition states: ‘Deep in the heart of the South Pacific, in the US territory that time forgot, lies American Samoa. Overseeing this tiny island’s justice system is Chief Justice Michael Kruse. We are petitioning the White House to nominate American Samoa’s Chief Justice Michael Kruse to fill Justice Scalia’s spot on the Supreme Court.”

It goes on to say that “Kruse has been the Chief Justice  of American Samoa since 1988 and his unique brand of legal interpretation has earned him a reputation as a maverick judge.

“America is ready for bold leadership and a new perspective. His New Zealand education and Samoan experience make him particularly qualified to shake up a divided court.

“Nominate Chief Justice Kruse to be the next justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.”

According to the WhiteHouse website if a petition garners 150 signatures, it is posted  on the official website, and if it gets 100,000 signatures, then the White House will consider it and issue a response.

It’s not known if Chief Justice Michael Kruse is even aware of the petition for his nomination to the highest court of the land.
