Lemanu Says Yes He’s Running with Lolo

Lemanu Sialega Peleti Mauga, the Lt. Governor of American Samoa for the past four years has confirmed that he has agreed to seek re-election with Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga in the November general elections.

In an interview at his office today, Lemanu said he and Governor Lolo have met to discuss their plans for the upcoming elections and they have decided to run again on the Lolo Lemanu ticket.

At a Cabinet meeting the week before last, Governor Lolo had said that while there are rumors to the contrary, he and Lemanu will be seeking re-election as a team.

Lolo said God did not make him and Lolo to run separately and if they win they will do so together and likewise if they lose.

Lemanu told KHJ News that the governor has spoken and he confirms what Lolo announced to the cabinet, they have discussed their election plans and they want to continue to serve the territory together.

Lemanu is a former commander of the American Samoa Army Reserve, and before entering the 2012 gubernatorial elections, he was a senator for Sua County.

During his tenure in the Senate, he was chairman of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee.

There had been heavy speculation that Lemanu would not run with Governor Lolo due to differences during their first term in office.

In addition according to relatives, Lemanu’s wife, Pohakalani is not well and has been in Honolulu for some time for medical treatment.
