Carl’s Jr Restaurant at the Laufou Shopping Center has launched a food drive in aid of the less fortunate in the territory.
Marketing Manager Phil Love, says each Carl’s Jr franchise has the option to conduct a canned food drive in support of a local food bank during February, the National Canned Food Month.
Carl’s Jr. CEO Barry Forsgren and the Forsgren family decided to try this out and see how it goes.
Since American Samoa does not have a food bank, the local restaurant has partnered with the Department of Human and Social Services and Catholic Social Services which will distribute the food items collected from the drive.
Customers are invited to bring to the restaurant two or more canned items and get a free Famous Star burger coupon.
Love says they have a thousand burgers to give out and they’ve given out about 100 so far. He looks forward to favorable public participation in this community project.
