Former Associate Judge Lefiti Aitulagi Pese, now a special liaison for the governor in Manu’a, has thanked Governor Lolo Moliga and the administration on behalf of Manu’a residents for improvements in the eastern most group of islands.

At Thursday’s cabinet meeting, Lefiti expressed his gratitude to Governor Lolo and Lt. Governor Lemanu for the good works they have done for the Manu’a islands.

He did not identify the works he was referring to. Under the current administration, executive office buildings have opened in Ta’u and Ofu and several departments which did not have a presence in the islands before now have employees there.

Lefiti said there are still critical needs in the Manu’a islands that the government should be looking at.

The Manu’a chief referred to the Governor’s opening remarks at the cabinet meeting that the strength of a leader is not determined on how he sails in smooth seas but rather when the going gets tough.

Advising the governor and his cabinet as a traditional leader and father figure Lefiti warned directors to be alert as the enemy never sleeps.

He told them to be firm in their faith in God and to trust God with their plans.

Lefiti also commented that while Manu’a may be a distance away and separated from Tutuila, they are of the same government.

Last year while planning for Manu’a Flag Day, Lefiti expressed the hope that every person of Manu’a ancestry would move back to Le Motusa or “Sacred island” to live and enjoy the natural beauty it offers.
