Catechists Conclude Week Long Retreat

The annual retreat of catechists of the Diocese of Samoa Pago Pago concluded Saturday at Fatuoaiga.

The week long retreat for catechists and their wives was an opportunity for spiritual enrichment and reflection on the role of catechists in evangelization, teaching children and youth about the Catholic faith and assisting the parish priests in their pastoral work.

It was led by Bishop Peter Brown assisted by Vicar General Monsignor Viane Etuale.

Before the retreat concluded Bishop Brown announced new assignments for some of the catechists.

Ameko and Palepa Lemana will move from Afono to Pago Pago, Ioane and Ana Matafeo, now at Faleniu will be assigned to Lepua, Keka and Apolo Keka move from Masefau to St. Joseph Community, Fatuoaiga, Iosefo & Akenese Tarangi who were on leave will be assigned ot Amouli, Lui & Akenese Polu now at Amouli move to Afono, Malaki & Iulia Aunoa , now at Aoa , are assigned to Laulii, Meafou & Sovita Meatuai, now at Amanave will have the added responsibility for Fagalii, Moana and Matagi Ah Chee move from Fagalii to Aoa, Tualesolo & Valelia Talo, move from Laulii to Masefau, and Catechist Tumaai & Paselika Solimalo, now at Lepua, are assigned to Fagaalu.

In addition, Bishop Brown announced the appointment of Deacon Iosefo Toilolo and his wife Aolele, as deacon of Iliili Parish assigned to Faleniu.
