The Director of the Junior Prep Sports Hawaii Classic, Robert Faleafine, said his goal for bringing players from American Samoa to Hawaii was so that they could gain exposure and also to develop friendships among Samoan players from here, Hawaii and California.
This was the first time that a high school football team from American Samoa has participated in a JPS event.
The territory has been sending elementary level football teams, AYF, to Hawaii for a few years.
After American Samoa’s 22-47 loss to Hawaii West Saturday,Faleafine spoke with our General Manager Joey Cummings about his impressions of the event.

ASG paid for all travel expenses for the team, coaches and accompanying officials, just like it covered travel and accommodation costs of the off island teams that usually travel here for the Samoa Bowl.
