The Department of Public Safety will hold a candle light service next week in memory of detective Lt. Liusila Brown, who was shot to death a week ago today outside the temporary High Court Building.
The service is planned for 6pm next Tuesday in front of the central police station in Fagatogo and will be led by the chaplain of the Territorial Correctional Facility, Rev. Filifiliauro Savini of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa.
Acting Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety, Leseiau Laumoli said all DPS personnel and their families will be attending and members of the public who want to join are also welcomed.
He said this is our tribute to our beloved colleague. We will have hymns and prayers and some testimonials about his life.
Leseiau said the department is also preparing for Lt. Brown’s funeral which his family has tentatively set for August 14.
Lt. Brown, 44, is survived by his wife Tumua, and two teenage children. He joined the police force in 1994 and was the second most senior officer in the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Bureau.
