Aliens Among Us

07/08/2010

Dear Editor,

Just an "irk" for the general public to ponder over.

Correct me if I got this one wrong, but aren't the individuals that were picked as delegates from their respective villages supposed to be of US national or citizen status?

Considering that we are deciding the constitutional status of our country, one would think that the individuals affected by these changes would likely be a delegate of this status. So I ask you, is it legal to have aliens as delegates to this convention?

I say this because I noticed a certain businesswoman (owner of an insurance company) and a former legislator in attendance as delegates. As a matter of fact, if you conducted an investigation into this allegation, you will find that there are a lot of aliens in attendance as delegates.

To be fair, I am certain that the contributions by these individuals (aliens) to the territory and its people are commendable and worthy of praise, but the fact remains that the people's mandate should be controlled by its citizens (period).
