Guest Editorial - Commies Among Us 06/25/2010 Can you spell COMMUNISM? This is what governor Togiola and his political minions are trying to do in order to replace the democratic system we have in place with that of a Marxist ideology. This communist governor is trying to usurp the very checks and balances of our democracy by introducing an amendment to the constitution to totally deseminate the United States from having any lawful input in our society. To justify this, he uses the guise of "protection of the people" from outside interference to influence, harass, disgrace or embarrass its citizens. Gotta give it to Togi, if there's one way to go around federal laws, it's to make absolutely sure that he convinces the masses to erase federal jurisdiction in the territory or they will be subjected to federal ridicule... period. Yes, appeal to our people's sensibilities. For someone that is supposed to be an ex-officio in these proceedings, you sure have a way of consulting (and swaying) the delegates to your theatrics. And to those delegates who are complaining about the lack of "voice" in the convention... you got what you deserve. Have you never heard of "standing up to your rights?" Of course the aganu'u/fa'asamoa will play a part, and of course the respect to the elders mantra will suffice, but you (each delegate) was sent there to represent your constituency. You need to voice your opinions loud and clear. There is no disrespect in that approach. The elders are there to protect their aganu'u despite the inevitable changes that are coming. The young people and women who were advocated by the governor for fair representation in the territory are just there for cosmetic purposes. It's a show for our federal landlords. Thats all. Can't wait to see what the REAL delegates (U.S. Congress) will do when these changes and amendments are presented for their approval. |
