KVZK-TV and the American Samoa TeleCommunications are working to provide for the first time live coverage of the Manu’a Flag Day festivities next month.
KVZK officials requested ASTCA for a live feed to assist television broadcasting from Manu’a.
Director of the Office of Public Information KVZK-TV Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde said in response to Governor Lolo’s directive for all ASG agencies to upgrade ASG services to Manu’a, KVZK TV is working collaboratively with ASTCA, pooling their resources in order to provide live coverage of the Manu’a Flag Day which will take place in Ta’u, Manu’a on July 16.
Fagafaga said providing a live feed from the Manu’a islands is something that has never been done before.
However in discussing the possibilities with ASTCA CEO Moefa’auo Bill Emmsley, he said ASTCA may have the resources to provide the pipeline that would enable KVZK-TV to send a live feed from Manu’a to Tutuila, and then airing it over KVZK TV for the whole territory to see,
Technicians from ASTCA and KVZK are presently testing the equipment interface and hope to have it ready in time for the Manu’a Flag Day celebrations next month.
Fagafaga said this is just the beginning of improved services for Manu’a which ASTCA and KVZK will be partnering on.
