The Flag Day Fautasi Committee met this morning with captains of all 13 local fautasi participating in the 2016 Flag Day race to give an update on the regatta which has been postponed for two days now because of foul weather.
Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga provided the captains with possible options should bad weather continue.
The National Weather Service briefed Lemanu that the rain wind and high surf will continue for the rest of today and likely to remain tomorrow.
Weather forecasters are predicting conditions to improve on Friday through to the weekend but “not guaranteed for a fautasi race.”
The fautasi races are now tentatively set, depending on the weather for 1pm Friday.
All captains have been told to get their crews ready.
