Tropical Cyclone Victor has intensified from a Tropical Storm to a Hurricane Category 1 on Friday afternoon.
As of 10 PM Friday, Hurricane Victor was located near 230 miles South-Southeast of Manu’a or 300 miles South-Southeast of Tutuila, and is remaining nearly stationary.
Hurricane Victor is expected to track southward through the weekend and then recurve westward by next week.
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Manu’a Islands while a Wind Advisory continues for Tutuila, Aunu’u and Swains Island.
The National Weather Service Office in Tafuna is expecting tropical storm force winds to remain across Manu’a Islands through at least Saturday evening.
A Wind Advisory will also remain for Tutuila Aunu’u and Swains Island through Saturday evening.
Because of the strength of Hurricane Victor, gale force winds are expected for coastal waters of Manu’a, and would likely impact south and east coastal waters of Tutuila and Aunu’u.
A gale warning remains in effect for Manu’a Islands, whileTutuila and Aunu’u coastal waters are under a gale watch.

A Flash Flood Watch continues for Manu’a islands as conditions remain high for flash flooding tonight through Saturday.
TC Victor is generating extreme surf heights..some up to 25 feet especially during high tide which may cause inundation.
Because of high surf conditions, currents are dangerously strong.
These dangerous conditions are expected to remain through the weekend.
