Victim of Serious Motorcycle Accident Medivaced to Honolulu

A member of the US Army Reserve who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in Laulii Friday afternoon was medivaced on a military flight to Honolulu Saturday.

The victim’s motorcycle is believed to have been speeding around the bend at Visa Point, hit the road barricade on the ocean side and plunged down the embankment.

Persons who were in a passing bus who saw the accident, rescued the man who had landed on rocks and he was rushed to the hospital.

Some residents of the east end of the island said the man’s motorcycle made a lot of noise as he was speeding to the east end where he was seen taking photographs, and then speeding back in the opposite direction.

Witnesses said the man’s motorcycle was travelling at a very high speed.

The accident in Laulii was the reason why the Pago Pago Bay Area was filled with blaring sirens Friday afternoon as police and EMS units rushed to the scene.

The bus passengers who lifted the man from the embankment thought that he did not make it as his body was lifeless.

The victim was still unconscious when he was airlifted to Hawaii on a military flight on Saturday evening.

Attempts to obtain his name were unsuccessful, but those who knew him say he was a member of the local Army Reserve and was a Caucasian of Persian descent.
