If you’re a high school junior or senior wanting to learn a trade and earn minimum wage, local construction company Paramount is offering you a summer job.

Owner of Paramount Papalii Laulii Alofa says this will be a four week summer training program by his company aimed at giving students a feel for construction work and preparing them for  jobs that are vital for the territory.

He says the types of jobs that the student hires will be doing include carrying materials and equipment, clearing and cleaning work sites.

The businessman says the territory has a dire need for skilled construction workers and he hopes that some of the summer hires will be enticed to take up careers in the construction industry when they finish school.

Papalii has just returned from Hawaii where he said some of his contacts in the construction business, asked for his help in sourcing workers, as they are short of tradesmen in the Aloha state.

His message to the youth is to consider expending their career choices to including construction work, because the skills set for these jobs can be utilized anywhere.

He said most high school students go for the military, ASG or desk jobs in the government or private sector and don’t even bother with blue collar jobs such as those offered in the construction industry.

Paramount is offering 20 summer slots for high school juniors and seniors.

Show up at the Paramount Office at Manumalo School in Malaeimi at 7am and come prepared to work.
