Moefaauo Is New CEO of ASG Shipyard

Moefaauo Bill Emmsley has been appointed as the next Chief Executive Officer of the Ronald Reagan Marine Railway.

Chairman of the American Samoa Shipyard Services Authority Board, Director of Commerce Keniseli Lafaele says the board made the selection yesterday,

There was only one other applicant for the position, but KHJ News was unable to verify the identity of the other applicant.

Moefaauo has been acting Interim CEO of the Shipyard for the last several months, having moved from the Department of Commerce where he was a special assistant to the director.

He and other special assistants to the DOC Director, Vui Robert Tuala and Mike McDonald were assigned to carry out a review of the shipyard last year .

As they were starting off their assignment, then CEO of the shipyard, and chairman of the Shipyard Services Authority Board David Robinson resigned along with other board members, Galumalemana Bill Satele, Uso Lagoo and Doug Harrington.

At the start of the Lolo Lemanu administration, Moefaauo was executive director of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority.

He left that position in still unclear circumstances and then joined the Department of Commerce as a Special Assistant to the DOC Director.

In a previous administration, Moefaauo was Deputy Director of Marine and Wildlife Resources, and also headed the Trades Department at the American Samoa Community College.

He lived in Honolulu for many years where he was director of the Samoa Providers Association.
