A Manumalo graduate, inspired by a  sister and her grandmother who were nurses, topped the latest crop of registered nurses to graduate from the American Samoa Community College Nursing Program.

Thirty-three year old Meli Ane Nanulo was recognized along with 8 other RNs at a pinning and capping ceremony at the Lee Auditorium last night.

Eleven others were pinned and capped as  Licensed Practical Nurses.

Meli , who is a single mother of two, said she became interested in  nursing when she was a child, but there were times when she wanted to give up.

But last night she celebrated with her grandmother, parents and children the sweet taste of success.

President of the American Samoa Nursing Association, Tofiga Tufele congratulated  Manulo and the rest of the graduates.

Tufele explained that the top nurse is determined by how well a student does in academics and clinical aspects of the Nursing course.

What’s  more important  is to be compassionate and sincere when dealing with patients from all walks of life.
