The LBJ Hospital is still awaiting word from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services as to whether its correction plan to address deficiencies found by the federal agency last year is satisfactory,

LBJ CEO Taufetee John Faumuina Jr. says they’ are anxious to hear  from CMS but knows it will take time for the agency to review their plan.

The hospital is also waiting for The $2.9 million that the American Samoa Economic Development Authority has approved for the hospital to purchase equipment.

Taufetee says he knows that the funding has been approved however he said they have not received it.

The Task Force that the governor appointed to identify problems at LBJ and recommend solutions requested ASEDA for assistance and ASEDA approved the request, which was also endorsed by Governor Lolo Moliga.

The money will go towards purchasing equipment that the hospital has deemed to be vitally needed .

Meanwhile according to the hospital;s second quarter performance report , the LBJ finished the quarter spending less money than what it earned,

Revenues raked in $12.1 million and expenses totaled $11.8 million.

Personnel costs came to $6.5 million  while pharmaceuticals used $2.8 million.

It’s not known why there is money left over for the quarter when the hospital has had to call on the community to donate supplies like sheets, pillows and pillow cases, towels and other basics because it doesn’t have money,   And vendors have not been paid,
