As of Wednesday, April 27, the Department of Homeland Secuirty had checked and documented 13 homes which suffered some damage from Cyclone Amos over the weekend.

Since Tuesday Homeland Security staff have been visiting villages checking on homes and buildings which called in that they suffered damages during the cyclone.

Fale Ulufale Acting Public Information Officer for Homeland Security said yesterday they had documented 13 homes which suffered damages, primarily their roof tops were partially  or completely blown off.

He said they have documented 13 homes whisch were damaged in Pago Pago, Aua, Masefau, Tula and Masefau.

Ulufale says no federal assistance is expected from FEMA because the damages caused by Cyclone Amos do not meet the threshold for a declaration  of a disaster.

ASG also doesn’t have any disaster assistance program  so the homeowners basically are on their own.

Homeland Security is also documenting damages to infrastructure and facilities, such as downed ASPA power lines from Cyclone Amos.
