Congresswoman Aumua Amata, met a few of her Congressional colleagues Thursday night at Pago Pago International Airport, during a stop off for refueling on their way back to the mainland from South Korea.

Aumua said, “It’s always nice to see my colleagues outside of work in DC.

“Whenever any of my colleagues are on island, whether it be for a week, or an hour, I do my best to greet them if I am here.  It’s just the Samoan way to be welcoming, and I want to make sure that is relayed to those who visit our island.”

The CODEL (Congressional Delegation) members included, Senator Fischer (NE), Senator Cochran (MS), Senator Barrasso (WY), Representative Black (TN, and Representative Duncan (TN).

They were returning from a trip to South Korea where they met with U.S. troops stationed In the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone).

The congresswoman stated, “I am proud of our island, and I want to make sure that whenever those who draft the laws that affect us come to American Samoa, they are greeted with the kindness and sincerity that our people are known for.  It also allows me the opportunity to discuss some of the issues affecting our islands with other leaders in Congress, outside of the confines of Washington.”
