In his speech at the launching of the Faoa Sanitoa campaign for governor and lt. governor on Saturday, candidate for governor Faoa Aitofele Sunia addressed a question that many have asked.

Why have they waited  just a few months before general election to start their campaign?

Faoa told the crowd attending their campaign kick off at the Tradewinds Hotel Pavilion and Poolside that after the 2012 gubernatorial race, he told their committee, the territory has chosen its leaders and they should now turn to supporting the government.

Faoa said they did not interfere or stand in the way of the current administration.

However after 8 months in office, when Governor Lolo was taken ill off island, it was evident that there was no confidence in the leadership of the lt. governor.

He said this led some traditional  leaders and members of the public to express doubts as to whether the Governor and Lt Governor would seek re-election.

Faoa said some supporters pushed for them to announce their campaign for governor and lt, governor at that time,  however they decided to delay and support the administration.

But he said the government is confronted with so many problems and he needn’t name them as they are well known to everyone.

Faoa said during the course of the campaign they will roll out their plan to address the problems and challenges that the territory faces.
