As is the Samoan custom whenever a malaga or traveling group from American Samoa goes off-island, they prepare gifts for their hosts to reciprocate their hospitality.
On their last night at the Pacific Arts Festival in Guam, American Samoa’s delegation held an aiava where they presented gifts to the people who looked after them in Guam.
Fr,. Vaiula Iulio, chaplain of Faasao Marist High School, who emceed most of the group’s performances, announced the gifts.
The first presentation was to the Guam Fire Department which was their Festival Liaison.

The Guam Fire Department, whose Fire Chief is Dean Avegalio of Leone, prepared collared T-shirts with the American Samoa flag on one side and the Fire Department emblem on the other, for everyone in the American Samoa group.
Gifts were also presented to the Jose LG Rios Middle School which was home for our group for the two weeks of the festival.
