Am Samoa Group Leaves for PacFest Guam

American Samoa ‘s delegation to the Pacific Arts Festival in Guam leave this morning on a chartered United Airlines flight.

Uta Dr. Laloulu Tagoilelagi and Secretary of Samoan Affairs Mauga Tasi Asuega  leading the delegation numbering more than 70.

Several names who were  previously on the list of travelers are not going because of one reason or another.

Around 6 am, members of the delegation began checking in at Pago Pago International Airport.
Its planned that a brief prayer service will be held before the group departs after 11 this morning.

The charter is also taking the Tokelau contingent which arrived in the territory earlier this week and the Samoa group which is arriving this morning.

The United Air flight will fly directly from here to Hagatna with a refueling stop in Majuro, Marshall islands. 

They will arrive just in time for the opening ceremonies.

First Lady Cynthia Malala Moliga will be joining the delegation in Guam.

Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga was also scheduled to travel from Honolulu to Guam however he is not making the trip due to his wife, Mrs. Pohakalani Mauga’s health.

The Faasao Marist Cultural group make up most of the traveling party and they are accompanied by school principal Victor Langkilde  and chaplain Fr. Vaiula Kolio.

A member of our news team, Samoan translator Doug Tuigamala, will be our eyes and ears at the two week Festival in Hagatna Guam and will be filing daily reports form there.
