An active trough that’s directly over American Samoa is expected to remain until tomorrow afternoon.

The system is responsible for the non stop rain since last night.

Roads across the island were submerged and streams rose with the heavy down pour.

Public Works responded to a land slide at Agugulu which blocked the road and a fau tree which was uprooted from the mountain side in Aua and landed on the road.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning close to noon and the warning remains until 6 this evening.

Outdoor activities such as training for fautasi crew, and school sports were cancelled.

Driving through flooded roads required careful navigation especially in parts of the highway with potholes.

Meteorologist Hans Malala at the National Weather Service says the wet and rainy weather should pass by tomorrow afternoon.
