Storm Warning Cancelled, High Surf and Small Craft Advisories Remain

The National Weather Service has cancelled the TROPICAL STORM WARNING for Manu’a islands at 02:55 p.m., Sunday, January 17.

Tropical Cyclone “Victor” is now 356 miles southeast of Tutuila and Manu’a islands moving southeast at 7 mph with maximum sustain winds near 85 mph.

A HIGH SURF WARNING and a SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY remains for Tutuila, Manu’a and Aunu’u.

Residents in low lying areas need to take necessary precautionary measures.

Be extra cautious when driving through flooded roads.

There is also a risk of mudslides and landslides along steep slopes and mountainous areas, as the grounds have become saturated with water.

The American Samoa Department of Homeland Security is deactivating the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, returning it to its normal 24/7 operation.
