Sporadic Fighting Among Leone HS Students

There have been daily fights among Leone High School students since last week.

Fofo District Faipule, Rep. Puletu Dick Koko said in chambers last week that during one the fights that broke out after school, he was around the area and contacted the police substation at Leone.

He said 7 police officers dispersed the students and he was grateful the substation was close by or it would have taken longer for the police to arrive from Tafuna or Fagatogo to quell the disturbance.

Puletu expressed appreciation to Commissioner Save Liuato Tuitele for his decision to reopen the Leone substation which was temporarily closed last year due to problems with the septic tank.

The Leone faipule said he talked with Leone High School Principal Fagaoatua Dorian Tamotu Salave’a about the fights and what’s been done to stop them.

He said according to the principal the school has held an assembly to settle the students differences.

Meanwhile Leone High School students said the fights would continue because the Principal and some faculty members are not going about solving them in the right way.

The students said that it looks like the Principal and other teachers are taking sides instead of disciplining all involved students in the same manner.
