Six Months Probation for PPD on Highway

District Court Judge Fiti Sunia sentenced a young man to 6 months probation after he pled guilty to the charge of public peace disturbance.

According to the government’s case, Iose Atofau was in a vehicle that the police stopped on the Iliili highway last month on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The police were approaching the car for the driver, but Atofau who was a passenger got out and threw a punch at a police officer and missed.

The defendant who was intoxicated at the time of the incident apologized for his behavior and was sentenced to six months probation for PPD. .

As conditions of his probation, the defendant must complete an alcohol counseling program with the Department of Human and Social Services, report to the Probation Office monthly and be law abiding.
