For parents looking for summer learning and fun activities for their children the Feleti Barstow Library is offering Samoan Technology Camps next month.

The Honolulu-based Le Fetuao Samoan Language Center  is teaming up with the Feleti Barstow Public Library to host four Tech Camps for students in American Samoa from July 5 to the 29.

This is for students from Grades 7-12.

During each of the one-week Tech Camps students will learn digital storytelling skills and Samoan language.

Students who sign up for the Tech Camps will be the first to use brand new iPads and laptops purchased by the library.

Tech Camps are a teaching concept developed by Le Fetuao SLC where students learn how to use apps such as Book Creator and Tellagami to author their own original stories.

Childrens’ stories will revolve around the theme “Our People, Our Culture, Our Future”, continuing the theme for the 2016 American Samoa Flag Day celebration.

Each of the week-long Tech Camp programs will include an educational field trip that will allow students to learn more about the history, culture and people of American Samoa.

Each Tech Camp will conclude with a showcase where students will share the projects they created during Tech Camp.

The sessions are free and you can register at the library or at  lefetuao.com/tekonolosi-gagana-samoa/
