Any journey or mission that is prayed for and supported ends well.

And so it is with the journey of American Samoa’s delegation to the `12th Festival of Pacific Arts in Guam which departed the territory yesterday.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes American Samoa. We have arrived safely in Guam.

We had a very warm and impressive, almost overwhelming welcoming when our plane touched down at the airport.

We traveled with the delegations from Tokelau and Samoa and we had a 45 minute refueling stop and a change of aircraft  in the Marshall Islands.

Arriving in Guam,  while we were making our way out of the airport terminal we were greeted with loud hafa adais, talofa and welcome, by many government employees who were lined up outside to welcome us.

But first, just as we said farewell at Tafuna with a prayer, Fr. Vaiula led us in a  prayer of thanksgiving outside the parking lot.

So we bowed our heads in prayer, and thanked the Lord for bringing us safely to Guam.

We are so lucky to have Samoans living in Guam who have organized themselves to welcome and look after us.

The welcoming party included Dean Aigmaua, son of Senator and Mrs Avegalio Aigamaua and brother of Budget Director Kathy Saelua.

He’s a lt. with the Guam Fire Department.

We were taken straight to Jose LG Rios Middle School about 20 minutes from the airport.

That is our home for the next two weeks.

What I could see on our way from the airport, Guam has a big city atmosphere with lots of high rise buildings.

At the school, the principal and staff were on campus to greet us and show us to our quarters.  Our rooms have air conditioning.

We sat down to our first meal in the cafeteria.

Guam’s climate is different and from ours and we need to get used to it.

There are 71 members of our group from American Samoa led by Secretary of Samoan Affairs Mauga Tasi Asuega and Arts Council Director Uta Dr. Laloulu Tagoilelagi.

First Lady Cynthia Moliga. and Ms. American Samoa Suluga Taliau are also here.

Guam is a day ahead so its early Saturday morning here.

We arrived safely and everyone is okay, no need to worry about us.
