The Office of Samoan Affairs Flag Day Fundraising Committee is sponsoring a raffle to help raise money for this year’s Flag Day celebration.
Deputy Secretary of Samoan Affairs, Tuiagamoa Tavai said that they are trying to find about $350,000 to cover expenses for the event.
This money will help fund prizes for the fautasi race, cricket tournaments and other activities for the celebration.
Tuiagamoa said the drawing date as printed in the raffle books is next Saturday and all 10 prizes are donated.
There are no monetary prizes.
Prizes for the Flag Day raffle include roundtrips to Honolulu, trips to Apia, electronics including a flat screen tv and a professional PA system donated by ACE Industries and KS Mart and phones donated by BlueSky.
Other prizes include accommodation at the Moana Sina Resort and Tradewinds Hotel and hotels in Samoa Insel Fehmarn and Tanoa Tusitala.
Tuiagamoa did not know the number of raffle books that were printed .
Yesterday House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale asked House members to help sell the 100 raffle books he had been given.
He said this was the Fono’s way of helping fundraising efforts o cover expenses for this important celebration for the territory.
The Samoan Affairs Deputy Secretary was not able to provide whom the tickets were distributed to for selling.
