The American Samoa Nurses Association has asked women’s organizations in the territory to help provide critically needed supplies for the LBJ Hospital,.

This morning the association met with representatives of the Committee for the National Day of the Girl and the Women’s Fellowship of the National Council of Churches, consisting of various churches, to discuss the nurses’ request.

Congresswoman Amata Aumua Radewagen who was also at the meeting has pledged her assistance in getting some of the needed supplies.

Simamao Tuato’o, LBJ Director of Nursing, said she’s grateful for the great turnout today which was the second time that the groups have met.

She said the Nurses Association decided to reach out to the women’s groups for help as the LBJ Hospital is facing financial constraints.

Local Program Coordinator for the National Day of the Girl Moana Purcell says they’ve mobilized to offer support to the nurses association and LBJ hospital.

The women’s groups hope to deliver the first bulk of request supplies for the hospital next month.
