Number of Suspected Zika Cases Tops 500

The number of suspected Zika cases in American Samoa has topped 500.

As of yesterday, April 21, there were 510 cases of patients seen at the Emergency Room of LBJ and at the community health centers with symptoms of the mosquito-born disease.

The number of blood samples from the suspected cases which were sent off island for testing totaled 115, of which 52 are blood specimens of pregnant women.

The good news is that the number of confirmed Zika cases remains at 14.

And the number of pregnant women confirmed to have contracted Zika has not increased for the last several weeks.

It remains at 6.
