Miss AS & Friends Open Colorful Playroom at LBJ

A project designed to put a smile on the faces of sick children was opened this morning.

It’s Miss American Samoa, Suluga Taliau’s Playroom at the Pediatric Ward of LBJ Hospital.

Miss Taliau, assisted by a group of art students from the American Samoa Community College under the supervision of renowned artist and ASCC Art Instructor, Reggie Meredith, have turned the playroom into colorful Disney characters.

We’re talking Lilo and Stitch, Lion King, Finding Nemo and Sponge Bob characters.

Rev. Elder Eveni Mamoe opened the ceremony with a prayer and First Lady Cynthia Malala Moliga cut the ribbon opening the door to a small but inviting room full of cartoon characters.

Also attending the opening were Congresswoman Aumua Amata, and Nu’uuli Representatives Manumaua Wayne Wilson and Vaiaitu Mulinu’u Maluia whom Miss American Samoa thanked for their continuous support.

Suluga also thanked a lot of other individuals and organizations for making her project a reality.

President of the Miss American Samoa Inc. Meafou Imo, Vice President, Maria Va’a and a few MASI members were also present.

Guests toured the playroom after the ribbon cutting.

The playroom includes a toy box, several stacks of books and two round tables for the children to sit and read.
