The government plans to file additional charges against a man who wielded a bush knife at a man and woman when he became upset that they had taken up a parking space he was trying to park in.

Auma Faatili is currently charged with public peace disturbance but the government plans to charge him with assault when he makes his second appearance in District Court tomorrow.

Police took Faatili, a military retiree in to custody yesterday and he is being held without bail at the Territorial Correctional Facility.

Security officers of Administrative Services who were at the scene yesterday morning said that the defendant became upset with the victims when their vehicle parked near the large garbage dumpster behind the Executive Office Building in Utulei, while he was heading for that spot.

The guards said the man held a bush knife when he approached the couple in the other vehicle.

The man and woman both tried to wrestle the bush knife from him and they were injured in the process.

The man’s hand had a gash and the woman’s fingers were injured.

Both were treated and released from the hospital while Faatili was taken into custody.

He was remanded back to the TCF after his initial appearance in District Court today.
