Lions Club to Launch First Campus Lions Club at ASCC

The Lions Club of Pago Pago will be launching the first ever Campus Lions Club at the American Samoa Community College, a first for the Lions District as well.

Lions Club President, Tafaimamao Tua Tupuola, told KHJ News that this is part of the Centennial Service Challenge for the local chapter as the international club prepares for the Lions centennial next year.

The President explained why they’ve decided on a charter club for the American Samoa Community College.

The Lions Clubs of Pago Pago decided to carry out projects based on all four humanitarian goals of the international organization focusing on youth, vision, hunger and environment.

They started last August with a Youth Leadership Summit which promoted the engagement of young people in community services, followed by a Week of Sight in October and ending the year with a project to tackle poverty led by Ms. Tuna Sunia.

The last project is one that promotes awareness of the impact of climate change on American Samoa and the world.
