Latest Has TC Amos Arriving Sooner

3:30 am Saturday: According to the National Weather Service, Amos is now 64 miles West of Tutuila and right over the Eastern Side of Upolu moving towards us at 10 miles per hour.

It is currently a Category 2 Hurricane.

Winds are expected to impact American Samoa Saturday afternoon at speeds of up to 85 miles an hour.

Wind speeds will continue to pick up to 100 miles an hour into Saturday evening.

So far, Amos seems like a Category 2 hurricane when it passes over us.

This is significant, because earlier models had it projected as a Category 4 or even Cat 5.

Amos should be clear of Tutuila by early Sunday morning.

So again, Amos will arrive Saturday afternoon, lasting into Saturday night, and departing American Samoa by early Sunday morning.

Maximum wind speeds can be up to and over 100 miles an hour.

Residents are instructed to stay indoors and adhere to all watches and warnings as per the Emergency Operations Center and the National Weather Service.
