Please don’t wait until New Year’s eve to renew your business license.
That’s a request from the Business Division of the Department of Commerce.
Saeu Porotesano says over the past years, people tend to wait until the last day to come in and file for business license renewals.
She advises that people come in now to file applications for their 2019 business licenses.
Porotesano says after December 31st, the law provides that any business operating without a valid license will be subject to penalties.
As of this morning, the number of business activities for which business owners have obtained licenses is 1,761.
One business may operate two or three different activities.
Last year, over 3,000 business licenses were issued.
The minimum fee for a business license is $150 and each additional activity is charged $100.
