Governor Calls on Leaders to Work Together

The invitees to last night’s State Dinner heard a plea from Governor Lolo Moliga for territorial leaders to work together.

Held at the Lee Auditorium, the dinner was attended by lawmakers, members of the judiciary, the cabinet and a few business people.

The invitation said it was hosted by Governor Lolo Moliga and Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga however only the governor was present.

STATE DINNER SIVALemanu, who returned from Honolulu just the night before, was reported to be under the weather.

After expressing his gratitude to leaders of the various branches of government for their service Governor Lolo said the territory faces major challenges and problems as a result of global economic conditions that we have no control over.

He said overcoming such problems requires a concerted and collaborative effort and if there’s any time where the leaders and everyone need to work together, it is now.

Lolo said the state dinner was an evening for everyone to enjoy, adding that in the administration’s three years in office they have not had a chance to gather at such an occasion.

The governor forecast that the territory faces more problems this year but said every problem has a solution and if everyone pulls together they can weather the challenges.

He said the government is not run by a single brain but is the product of the combination of expertise, experience and skills.

The Senate president hoped that everyone would find it in their hearts to forgive past transgressions and to let bygones be bygone while they look to the future, tackling the challenges that lie ahead, for the benefit of the people of American Samoa .

The dinner was catered by Terry Steffany and Chef Gemini , the Siliva Band entertained and the dance group from Faasao Marist High School also performed.
