The American Samoa Chamber of Commerce has elected a woman as its new chairman.

Francine Gaisoa of the Tautua mo Oe family of businesses was elected Tuesday to head the Chamber.

While she‘s not the first woman to hold that position, it’s been many many years since a woman steered the chamber.

Gaisoa replaces former chairman David Robinson who did not seek re-election.

Taotasi Archie Soliai of StarKist Samoa was re-elected as Vice Chairman, hotelier Thomas Drabble was elected Treasurer and Charles Warren was elected Secretary.

The officers of the Chamber are elected by the Board of Directors.
