The AP Lutali Executive Office Building is the latest spot on the island to have an Automated Teller Machine, and this one doesn’t belong to either of the two commercial banks.

It belongs to three businesses who have joined forces to help make it easy for customers to get access to their hard earned money.

Betham Technologies Inc., a family business headed by David Betham, has teamed up with two California companies Otomatic Cash Management System and Coast to Coast Management System to deliver a number of ATM machines which will soon be seen across the territory.

The off island companies provide the cash and connections with all major banking systems, allowing customers to use their bank or federal credit union cards to make withdrawals at the new ATMS.

Betham said at the launching of the first ATM at the EOB yesterday morning that from now up to July BTO will be installing the ATMS.

It wont be just the populated areas and main commercial district that will have the cash dispensing machines.

According to Betham they will set up ATMs across the territory all the way up to Tula to the east and as far as Leone in the west.

He said, "We want to make it easy for people to obtain cash for faalavelave, bingo  or whaetever."

He asked that the public take care of the ATMS.

Betham said, "Don’t punch the machine if it's not working but inform us so we can come and fix it.

"If you punch the machine the damage will be greater and the ATM will be done for  a longer period.

Governor Lolo Moliga was pleased with this new fleet of ATMs and the service they will deliver for the territory.

He said the ATMs go hand in hand with the Territorial Bank of American Samoa, which if all goes according to schedule, should open its doors in September.

The governor thanked BTI and its off island business partners for this great development which he said  will make it easier for residents to access their money.

Director of Commerce Keniseli Lafaele was the first customer to test the ATM and voila!

Green notes came out of the machine!
