Defendant in Le Aute Bar Raid Pleads Guilty

The High Court has accepted a plea agreement for one of the defendants in the Aute Bar raid from March of last year Ah Kiong or Ationo Talamoa.

Talamoa faced charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance – ice, possession with intent to distribute the same, a second charge of possession of a controlled substance – marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Under the plea agreement, Talamoa pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of a prohibited weapon, a semi automatic pistol that was loaded, and the rest of the charges against him were dismissed.

Associate Justice Lyle Richmond, assisted by Judges Mamea Sala Jr. and Tunupopo Alalafaga approved the plea agreement.

Talamoa was arrested along with his sister, Tumuatasi Leafatia , also known as Mama, following a police raid of the Le Aute Sports Bar in Lepuapua, bordering Malaeloa, found drugs , drug paraphernalia, and cash at the bar and a nearby building.

Talamoa is to be sentenced next month and faces a sentence of one year in prison or a fine of $ 5000 or both.
