Samoa has given the Mexican-based Hope for Cancer Clinic a home…a fairly new building that was once the office of the Samoa Land Corporation at the Faleata Golf Course at Tuanaimato.
The Cancer Center plans to attract medical tourism by offering cancer treatment for not only Samoan patients but those from nearby countries like Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Speaking on his weekly radio program, Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi said that cabinet has approved the former headquarters of the Samoa Land Corporation as the clinic’s new home.
Leading the Hope for Cancer Clinic is Dr. Antonio Jimenez, the Medical Director of the Hope 4 Cancer Institute in Mexico who had been meeting the Minister of Heath and government officials about the plan.
The clinic also plans to employ locals in various levels of expertise and to treat prevalent lifestyle diseases such as diabetes using preventative treatment.
