Big ASG Group Joining Governor in DC

Fifteen directors, assistants to the governor and security officers are part of the American Samoa delegation who are heading to Washington to join Governor Lolo Moliga for meetings in the capital.

The governor left last night with some of the group while the rest are leaving Friday and Monday.

The meetings in D.C. are that of the National Governors Association and the Interagency Group for Insular Areas.

The Department of Interior Office of Insular Areas has changed the venue for the IGIA meeting from OIA to the White House due to space limitation.

In a January 22 letter to Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Insular Affairs Esther Kia’aina, Governor Lolo provides the list of those on his delegation.

He also apologized for the late submission of the names.

The governor said the following list of staff will accompany him to the White House for the IGIA plenary session:
Chief of Staff- Fiu Johnny Saelua, Executive Assistant- Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, Attorney General – Talauega Eleasalo Ale, Executive Director of ASPA-Utu Abe Malae, Budget Director- Catherine Saelua, Treasurer – Ueligiotne Tonumaipe’a, Director of Commerce – Keniseli Lafaele, Port Director – Taimalelelagi Dr Claire Poumele, Director of Marine and Wildlife Resources – Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga, Director of Health – Motusa Tuileama Nua, Tapaau Dr. Dan Aga- panelist on political status discussion and Land Grant Director, Capital Improvement Projects Manager- Jerome Ierome, Executive Director of Medicaid Office -Sandra King Young and security officers Alapati Fano and Tautalaso’o Moliga.

First Lady Cynthia Malala Moliga is traveling with the governor.

Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga is holding the fort until Lolo returns next month.
