Another village reported a major fish kill, that is thousands of dead fish on their beaches and shallow waters today, similar to what occurred in Laulii and Amouli earlier this week.

Residents said they first sighted large schools of small lo or rabbit fish dead on the beach and near the shore yesterday.

This morning they found more schools of dead fish.

Chief Marine Biologist at the Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources, Domingo Orchaville says they got a call about the fish kill in Alao late this afternoon.
He said they are unable to go to the east side village to investigate and collect samples because of the ASG restriction on after hours use of vehicles.
He asks residents to take photos of the dead fish and to bury the fish in a spot where they can be dug up for analysis later.
A woman from Alao told KHJ News by phone this afternoon that her children had gone swimming yesterday and came home with bags of dead lo.
And this morning they woke up to find more dead fish on the shoreline.
DMWR responded to fish kills in Amouli and Laulii earlier this week.
The department is sending samples of the dead fish off island for lab testing to determine the cause of the fish kill.
