The Department of Labor’s new overtime rule which would entitle management and professional type employees who are currently exempt  from overtime compensation is going to add more costs to ASG ‘s already burgeoning personnel costs.

The overtime rule which goes into effect December 1 would entitle those earning $767 per week to overtime pay.

At present the threshold for overtime exempt employees is $380 per week.

DOL also has other criteria for overtime exempt employees relating to duties and salary base but these remain the same and did not change under the new overtime rule.

Min Park of the Wage and Hour Division says DOL will enforce the new overtime rules for local employers who are covered under the Fair labor Standards Act come December 1st and she encourages the government and private sector to read up on the overtime rule posted on the DOL website.  ‘
