The Samoa Government inter island ferry Lady Naomi which makes weekly trips to American Samoa is set to be replaced.

The Samoa Shipping Corporation says they are already in talks with the Government of Japan for a replacement vessel.

According to TV1 Samoa, Transport Minister Papalii Niko Lee Hang, confirmed that the corporation was looking to replace at least two of their interisland fleet.

Other than the Lady Naomi, the Samoa Shipping Corporation’s other ferry Samoa Express is getting too old and may not be safe too.

The Samoa Express which has been used on the Tutuila – Manu’a route, will be offered for sale overseas.

The Lady Naomi is currently at the inter island dock waiting to go on the slipway at the ASG shipyard in Satala for drydocking.

While she’s undergoing repairs the Fotu o Samoa will replace her only for cargo on the inter Samoa route.
